Undergraduate - Learning Objectives
At the end of their course medical graduates will:
Attitude:
Have developed attitudes to people with disabilities consistent with the principles of normalisation and inclusion, and be able to integrate this understanding into their medical practice.
Impact:
Have an understanding of the impact of developmental disability on the individual, the family and the community.
Social issues and Services:
Be able to understand the important issues that relate to the physical, social and attitudinal issues encountered by people with disabilities in their daily lives and to have an awareness of the framework of the community and medical services that support people with disabilities and their families.
Knowledge base:
Know about the common developmental disabilities and understand their implications for medical care.
Assessment and management skills:
Have developed the clinical skills to assess and manage people with disabilities within their medical practice.
Resource finding skills:
Have the ability to seek out appropriate resources and information when required.
