Registrar positions
Opportunities may exist for General Practice registrars to complete placements at the Centre for Developmental Disability Health.
Registrars who would like to develop experience and confidence in assessing and managing people with a developmental disability are encouraged to contact the CDDHV to arrange a time to discuss their individual needs.

Other QA & CPD activities
CDDHV is keen to offer educational activities to support the primary health care sector in managing the health care of people with developmental disability. CDDHV is an accredited CPD provider with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP). CDDHV staff have presented a range of educational sessions focusing on the health and healthcare of people with a developmental disability to medical practitioners and other health professionals. These are usually organised on an individual basis; choice of topics are negotiable and fees are reasonable.

e-learning
On-line educational activities are becoming increasingly popular with today's health professionals and are particularly useful for practitioners working in rural and remote areas. CDDHV is working with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) to develop on-line educational activities on the health and healthcare of people with a developmental disability. The gplearning web site can be accessed at http://www.gplearning.com.au. CDDHV plans to develop many more educational activities in this format.
Psychiatry
RANZCP Accredited Psychiatry Training Post
The psychiatry training position at CDDHV is an RANZCP accredited training post, Southern Region. The position is full time, for 6 or 12 months, and is suitable for more advanced trainees. The position provides a unique opportunity to develop a broad range of skills and practical experience in providing direct care, clinical consultation, and advocacy for people with an intellectual disability and co-morbid psychiatric and neurobehavioural disorders. In addition there are opportunities to participate in teaching and research. The position can be tailored to the individual needs and interests of the trainee.
The position is funded by the federal government through the Specialist Training Program.

Seminar in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The CDDHV conducts a seminar on the Introduction to Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in the PPP core masters subject in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The session comprises a personal story of a mother who has a son with developmental disability and an introduction to the theoretical framework for assessment of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, and case-based discussion to illustrate the points raised.
Adult Psychiatry
CDDHV conducts a seminar in the Psychiatry of Intellectual and Developmental Psychiatry within the PPP core masters subject Adult Psychiatry.
Selective in the Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability
The CDDHV offers psychiatry registrars a 6-week PPP selective in the Psychiatry of Intellectual and Developmental Disability. This selective usually runs from May-July each year.
